Concessions are an important part of the home buying transaction. They act as an additional item on the purchase contract to ensure the deal is acceptable to both parties. Though it is more common to see a seller concession, there are times when a buyer concession is also appropriate. Every transaction is different.
• Usually involves the seller giving something to the buyer to encourage the sale
• Work with your realtor to negotiate concessions early on in the process
• A home inspection may reveal certain problems that warrant the buyer asking for additional concessions to address the issues appropriately.
